The City of Long Beach Department of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Communications contracted CONSTANT to lead the development of the City’s Crisis Communications Plan. CONSTANT engaged their Joint Information Team, an interdepartmental team of Long Beach’s crisis communications personnel, over a 2-month project timeline to review existing plans, policies, and procedures, as well as help identify best practices for managing emergency communications during a Long Beach Emergency Operations Center activation.
To promote project success, CONSTANT planned and facilitated a series of regularly-scheduled meetings to review iterative drafts of the plan with the Joint Information Team and procure feedback for further plan refinement and completion.
The Crisis Communications Plan is a product of collaboration and hard work. This document provides clear and actionable guidance for developing and disseminating accurate and timely emergency messaging across City departments and to the public. It also outlines key considerations for coordinating emergency messaging with neighboring jurisdictions and other key disaster response and recovery partners.
CONSTANT is honored to have had the opportunity to support the City of Long Beach in this effort.
