Leadership and management

The need exists for the professionals in all walks of industry to learn and improve on the skills needed to effectively lead, plan and manage emergency programs. This tract will provide core knowledge needed to serve as an executive or leader in an emergency management in your corporation, organization or community.


When a community is engaged in an authentic dialogue, it becomes empowered to expand its reach and deliver services more efficiently and cost effectively to build, sustain, and improve capabilities to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate all hazards. This track will speak to emerging and best practices to organize and strengthen community assets, capacities, and interests.

Health and Safety

Emergencies can create a variety of hazards for workers in the impacted area. Preparing before an emergency plays a vital role in ensuring that employers and workers have the necessary equipment, know where to go, and know how to keep themselves and others safe when an emergency occurs. This track will provide information on how to prepare and train for emergencies and the hazards to be aware of when an emergency occurs.


Perhaps nowhere is there an example of the importance of emerging technology as there is in emergency management. This track will be used to present on emerging technologies that have the ability to positively impact the field and possibly fill the voids that stand in the way of whole resiliency.


As long as there have been events and Incidents, individuals and communities have tried to plan for them and mitigate against them. This track will to educate participants in strategies they can use to plan for scheduled nonemergency activity (e.g., sporting event, concert, parades, exercises, trainings, etc.) and unplanned incidents (occurrence or event, natural or manmade that requires a response to protect life or property). Presenters will share best practices and lessons learned as well as present tools and resources available.
