Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) recipients need to be in a state of readiness to receive, stage, store, and distribute pharmaceuticals/vaccines, medical supplies, and equipment should a bioterrorism attack occur. A key component of this strategy involves the activation and operation of point of dispensing (POD) sites, whereby pharmaceuticals/vaccines are rapidly distributed to large sections of the population.
C&A has supported the implementation, training, exercise, and assessment of numerous PODs, to include key components of SNS Plans and the Cities Readiness Initiative (CRI) program. We have provided support with scenario development, production of exercise materials, exercise facilitation, and control, and preparation of After-Action Reports for the several POD events. We have tested numerous models, to include drive-through and pedestrian POD models. We have also incorporated the use of quantitative measurement markers, to include throughput, dispensing accuracy and site set-up in coordination with metrics developed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/Rand Corporation.
