The Incident Command System (ICS) is a management system designed to enable effective and efficient domestic incident management by integrating a combination of facilities, equipment, personnel, procedures, and communications operating within a common organizational structure, designed to enable effective and efficient domestic incident management.
While most emergency situations are handled locally, when there is a major incident help may be needed from other jurisdictions, the state and the federal government. The National Incident Management System (NIMS) was developed so responders from different jurisdictions and disciplines can work together better to respond to natural disasters and emergencies, including acts of terrorism. NIMS benefits include a unified approach to incident management; standard command and management structures; and emphasis on preparedness, mutual aid and resource management.
To manage an incident in compliance with federal standards and guidelines, NIMS and ICS must be employed. C&A has the tools, resources and experience to provide a progressive series of training and exercises to effectively test and improve such response capabilities.
