HICS Services

The Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) is an emergency management system which employs a logical management structure, defined responsibilities, clear reporting channels, and a common nomenclature to help unify hospitals with other emergency responders. Based upon public safety’s Incident Command System, HICS has already proved valuable in helping hospitals serve the community during a crisis and resume normal operations as soon as possible.

C&A Team members have implemented HICS at hospitals and healthcare organizations and have developed the tools and resources necessary for a successful training and exercising program.  Our team members have supported the development, conduct and assessment of several HICS exercises that vary in scope and size, and with a variety of scenarios, including earthquakes, bioterrorism, chemical releases, radiation exposure, and hazardous materials incidents.
